Seymour Duncan is an American company best known for manufacturing excellent guitar and bass pickups. They also manufacture effects pedals which are designed and assembled in America, and stand out from the crowd with well-conceived features at a competitive price. Guitarist and luthier Seymour W. Duncan together with his wife Cathy Carter Duncan founded the company in 1976, in Santa Barbara, California. With good ears for tone and always listening to musicians’ needs, they started out winding custom-designed pickups by hand. Around 1983–84, their fine-tuned pickup creations appeared in the guitars of renowned brands for the first time. Today, Seymour Duncan offers an enormous range of all kinds of pickup models that are used on instruments of almost any quality guitar maker for their superior tone.
