Next to the tone, the playability is one of the most important characteristics that determines the quality of a musical instrument. The plek® process guarantees the best possible string action for each instrument, matching the individual style of the musician. A guitar with optimised playability just sounds better: the strings do not strike the frets during playing and any intonation problems that may occur due to too low a string action are eliminated. With a highly developed and precise measuring technique, Framus guitars are measured at every possible playing position. For a guitar with 22 frets, that means 132 measuring points. This measuring process is done by a precisely calculated pressure which simulates the drag of the guitar strings and takes into consideration the bow of the neck. Following this, the trimming process can begin. The trimming is not done by simple filing down of the frets. Instead with the plek®-process, based on the measurements previously taken, every fret is machined on its own. The fret radius is kept even after the milling process. The result is a defined, flat string position, exact roundings of the fret crowns, improved intonation and optimal playing comfort made possible by a working accuracy of the hundredth of a millimeter. Thanks to the plek®-process the Framus guitar becomes a master instrument that you will not want to put down.
