Traveler Guitar: Redlands Series
Which Tonewood is Your Favorite?
Redlands is a city in southern California, about a 1-hour drive from Los Angeles. There, almost three decades ago, you could have stumbled upon the very first traveler guitars in the local music shop. Meanwhile, these instruments have turned into a market-leading brand for compact guitars that give players surprisingly authentic feel and tone.
With the Redlands Series, Traveler Guitar is embracing more traditional acoustic shapes, but still in a downsized format. The Concert model, for instance, is only 89 centimetres long, which makes it much easier to transport. For optimal comfort and tone, clever design details are introduced – for example, the beveled cutaway edge, which makes higher frets more accessible but retains the resonating body.
With three bass and three guitar models, the Redlands Series appeals to quite different tastes in the Concert category. The main differences can be found in the used tonewoods, the hardware colors, and the finishes: Either satin finished models with Spruce top and Chrome hardware, or with Mahogany top and black hardware are at choice; as well as a model with gloss finish, Koa top, and gold hardware. Further features such as the high-quality piezo pickup and custom preamp with 3-band EQ and built-in tuner are identical in all the variants.
