B.C. Rich: Wild Basses for Heavy Performers

Bassists who would like to catch some more eyes could either play themselves constantly to the foreground so that everybody else in the band gets annoyed. Or they grab one of the electric basses by B.C. Rich to compel some respect for their style – then, for sure, none of the bandmates will dare to complain about some cool bass fills anymore. If this is your desire, check the new Legacy and Extreme Series for some iconic bass designs that can cover a wide range of tonal preferences.

Widow Basses – Legacy Series

This spider-shaped design first scuttled from the luthier’s workbench in the 1980s. The updated reissue is loaded with two passive P-style pickups to produce officially approved rock bass tones. To properly transfer these vibes into the sustainy neck-through construction of the Mahogany body, a high-quality Graphtech nut as well as a massive, finely adjustable bridge are put to use. A black widow might have eight legs, the widow basses are currently available as 4- and 5-string versions.

Mockingbird Basses – Heritage Classic Legacy Series

The very first and very likely still the most popular B.C. Rich design also looks fabulous as a bass guitar – even more so with the Koa tonewood top visible through the transparent finishes! As for the pickup configuration in the new Mockingbirds, active P-style and J-style single coils by EMG are cooperating to produce a wide tonal variety. One of the four pots controls the master volume, another the pickup blend, the other two simply but effectively get the most out of treble and bass.

Warlock Chris Kael Signature Basses – Extreme Series

Since its creation in 1981, the Warlock shape has always been reserved for the really tough boys and girls. Currently Chris Kael, the bassist for Five Finger Death Punch, uses it as the basis for his signature bass. Just like the Mockingbird, it features an active P/J pickup combo together with a 2-band tone control to make possible most diverse punchy sounds. And just like in all Extreme Series instruments, a glitzy binding accentuates the aggressive outlines of the satin black or white finished bass. Extremely epic!
