Here, in the city of Petaluma, Mike Upton founded the KALA Brand Music Co. that is specializing in ukuleles built overseas as well as in their Californian headquarters. Curiously, the first demand for high-quality but affordable ukuleles came from Hawaii, the birthplace of the ukulele.
