Reverb

In the first recording studios, reverb was created in separate echo chambers, and electro-mechanic reverberators weighed almost six hundred pounds. Today, digital technology can authentically recreate the character of plate and spring reverb, as well as simulate the tonal reflections in most diverse reverberating spaces such as rooms or cathedrals. Beyond that, algorithms open up a completely new world of "supernatural" sound designs, for example by adding shimmers of pitch shifting or other effects to the reverb trails.
