We’ve hit a new low.
From this moment forward, the power and intensity of bass fuzz is changed forever. The Bass War by Death By Audio is a louder, wider-ranging, earth-shaking bass fuzz that can get more oomph than any other pedal we’ve ever heard.
The Bass War began with the idea of making a version of the Fuzz War that was even more perfect for bass. Death by Audio have twisted classic circuit ideas to their own tastes and crafted a wicked, harmonically rich octave fuzz. It boasts extraordinary levels of gain, a massive tone sweep, and a MIX control, providing everything you need for the ultimate bass fuzz at your fingertips. It sounds freaking amazing but it doesn’t stop there, the Bass War goes BEYOND that and can deliver more volume, more tones, more fuzz, and more sonic syrup guaranteed to turn the heads of any bystander.
The controls have super-extended ranges that let you dial in so many wildly different tones that are all surprisingly useful and HEAVY. Roll the FUZZ knob back for a dirty, sleazy, grinding drive, turn it up to noon for a super thick distortion, and then alllllll the way up for a blistering wall of total destruction. The TONE knob is a notch filter that transforms the overall sonic spectrum of the fuzz to sound like you are sweeping through an arsenal of 100 different fuzz pedals. Combine this with insane volume on tap and a MIX knob to get the extreme fuzz and distortion you always wanted for your bass without sacrificing volume or floor-shaking subs.
Wrap it all up in a DBA punk-style raw enclosure with spray-painted graphics, and all that’s left to do is find a time machine so you can re-record all those old bass parts!Bass Fuzz effect pedaldesigned specifically for bass and low tuningswide range of fuzz tones including drive, distortion, ripping fuzz, and super compressed total destructiona sweepable notch filter and a clean blend mean that almost any bass tone can be achieved with different knob settingscontrols for Fuzz, Volume, Mix, Tonebypass footswitchstatus LEDmetal housing6.3 mm mono jack input / outputpower supply via 9V battery or optional 9V DC adapter, 2.1 x 5.5 mm barrel plug, polarity (-) center (battery is not included in the delivery)current draw 33 mAdimensions (L x W x H) 150 x 120 x 57 mm / 5.9" x 4.73" x 2.24"weight approx. 439 g / 0.97 lbshandmade in New York City, USA
Sometimes pedals can change. Parts drift, pots break, transistors go bad. They go to new homes; they get neglected and resold. Sometimes people get in there and try to revive them to their original state and sometimes they just throw whatever is laying around inside and hope it does the trick. EarthQuaker Devices believes that the fuzz pedal that one day found its way to James Murphy and became part of his band LCD Soundsystem's arsenal is where all these things happened.
This particular pedal really does have something special. It’s heavy without being too heavy, clean but not too clean. A simple set of controls yet it has an expansive array of tones that makes it very versatile on a wide variety of instruments. It has clarity when you need it and can blur all discernable lines when you don’t. It still retains the familiar foundation of the classic fuzz it was intended to be, but something special happened to it over the years and it has very much grown into its own thing.
It is likely that you have heard this pedal before. It has been the chosen bass fuzz for several LCD recordings and has traveled around the world with them. I’d say that it is a prized possession, a real one-of-a-kind pedal. It has been beat up and taped back together. It looks like it shouldn’t work but it always delivers. It is old, it is fragile, and it sounds massive. Too good to retire yet too tired to keep going. That is where we come in. EarthQuaker Devices were tasked with replicating the exact sound of this pedal but in a reliable format that can withstand the stresses of this modern world. No easy feat, for sure, but we persevered and have brought you the Chelsea.
Named after the guitar shop in which it was purchased back in 1989, the Chelsea recreates all the idiosyncrasies of the original but without the threat of total collapse. With only three controls, this deceptively powerful pedal offers you everything from light overdrive to full on distortion with all the clarity and blissful grinding that make the original so special. Just like the original, a Tone On/Off switch allows you remove the tone control from the circuit, opening up a whole new world of midrange grind. Switch it off for a simplified and straightforward attack or leave it on for a full-bodied distortion with loads of low end with a slight natural scoop. Roll up the Sustain for wall-shaking bass notes or sustaining lead and adjust the Tone for a wild and wide frequency response from aggressive top end to low-end rumble. Believe it - EarthQuaker Devices have been doing this for a very long time. We promise.

The One Control Blackberry Bass OD hearkens back to the original BJFe Blueberry Bass Overdrive model, one of the classics from early BJFe production. This is a very light overdrive pedal specifically designed for bass players (but also great on guitars) that helps to create a slightly overdriven and more present bass tone at any volume and with any amplifier! Many players have described this quality as 'grit' - similar to a large tube bass amp being driven hard at concert volume, but now in a pedal format. Bjorn Juhl has taken the very first BBOD model he ever created as a basis, and then added a new Body knob to the original circuit, enabling the player to precisely dial in the midrange 'body' frequencies of their tone to make the bass guitar more prominent in the mix without increasing the overall volume. This version is one of One Control's bass-specific tools to enhance your low end presence. It’s also a secret weapon for the downtuned and 7/8 string guitar brigade, with a new heaviness for that lower frequency spectrum.bass overdrive effects pedalbased on the BJFe Blueberry Bass Overdrivespecifically designed for bass players (but also great on guitars)perfect for slightly overdriven and more present bass tonedesigned by Bjorn Juhltrue bypasscontrols for Body, Drive, Volume, Depthbypass footswitchstatus LEDaluminum housing6.3 mm mono in / output jackspower supply via 9V battery or optional 9V DC power supply, 2.1 mm x 5.5 mm barrel plug, polarity (-) center (battery not included)current draw 3.6 mAdimensions (L x W x H) 113 x 66 x 46 mm / 4.44" x 2.59" x 1.81"weight ca. 305 g / 0.67 lbs
The One Control Hooker's Green Bass Machine 4K has a dynamic range as wide as a bass tube amp and picks up all the subtle expressions that bassists create with their fingers. Transitions between clean and distorted sounds are smooth and it creates a gorgeous but stable compression tone like an old transistor amp when you increase the distortion. It won't miss any finger touches and accurately produces any groove from blues, fusion, or hard rock to metal. Its moderately sharp attack and clear sounding keys do not decrease the speed realized by picking. With slapping, percussive chunks of sound by thumbing pop up, and sound created by pulling can be maintained and kept stable. The ability to freely control distortion enables you to play in a relaxed and comfortable way. For heavy tracks using a multi-string bass, the Low Boost control does its job. The OC Hooker's Green Bass Machine 4K has enough low-end, but if it's not enough, adjust the Low Boost to unlock even more low-end. The Treble knob has a limited range to allow subtle adjustment. Many music venues and studios have modern bass amps equipped with powerful EQ and basic bass sound is created using that. What is required for an overdrive pedal is delicate sensory adjustment that is impossible with amp EQ. This pedal can also be used as an overdrive pedal when paired with a guitar.bass overdrive / distortion effects pedalwide range of possible sounds for bass and guitardesigned by Bjorn Juhltrue bypasscontrols for Treble, Volume, Drive, Low Boostbypass footswitchstatus LEDbrushed aluminum housing6.3 mm mono in / output jackspower supply via 9V battery or optional 9 - 18V DC adapter, 2.1 x 5.5 mm barrel plug, polarity (-) center (battery is not included in the delivery)current draw 12 mAdimensions (L x W x H) 100 x 47 x 48 mm / 3.93" x 1.85" x 1.88"weight ca. 160 g / 0.35 lbs
