Since the fuzz effect was invented in the early sixties, guitar players have gone to great lengths to achieve the perfect fuzz tone. Legends say that Duane Allman placed his fuzz pedal in the freezer between sessions to cool down the transistors, and that Roger Mayer meticulously modified Hendrix’s Fuzz Faces beyond recognition in search of an elusive, magical fuzz experience. Fortunately, even apart from these mythological methods, there’s one trick that always works: use a dying battery. Inherently simple devices like fuzz circuits are extremely sensitive to the amount of voltage that they receive, thus any change in the voltage from your power supply will cause drastically different tones. Guitarists eventually caught on to this hack and began draining their batteries to try and find the sweet spot for their fuzz pedal. A good idea in theory, but who has time for that? Then, just a few years ago, a certain unnamed guitarist reached out to JHS for a practical solution for this technique - and the Volture was born. The Volture is a modern day device for your vintage fuzz circuitry. In 2017 One Control released the DC Porter, which brought innovation to the power supply of the pedalboard power supply. In 2023, One Control has transformed the DC Porter into the next generation with the Minimal Series DC Porter MKII. DC PORTER MKII IS A POWER SUPPLY DESIGNED EXCLUSIVELY FOR MOBILE BATTERIES. Robust housing. The entire unit is sealed for stability. Powering your pedalboard from any standard 5V USB-C mobile power bank prevents the addition of noise generated by “wall wart” style adapters. At the same time, there is no need to open the back cover of each effector and replace the battery. Also, there are many effects that can't be battery-powered now. DC PORTER MKII CONNECTS POWER FROM ANY STANDARD POWERBANK STYLE BATTERY TO THE USB-C PORT. All DC outs are center minus DC 9V, and there are 10 outlets. It can power large pedal boards with ease. The current capacity that can be output depends on the connected mobile battery, but the maximum total is 1000 mA. There is no current limit for each DC 9V out. The DC Porter MKII also has an indicator that shows current useage. 300 mA, 600 mA, 900 mA, 1000 mA (overload) indicators light up. At 300 mA or less, only the blue LED of each DC 9V out lights up, and one when it exceeds 300 mA, two when it exceeds 600 mA, and three indicators when it exceeds 900 mA. Normally, if an indicator over 900 mA lights up, refrain from supplying more power. The Minimal Series Distro MKII Isolated is an isolated power supply that is as compact as possible, but with fully independent outputs. Although it is compact size, it has 10 DC Outs and it can supply power to many effects using the dedicated included adapter. A new feature is the four 9V/500 mA outputs. Currently, it is common to use several digital effects and multi-effects on pedalboards. In order to be able to work with the effects that require these large currents, four large 500 mA outputs are available. From these outputs, you can also use branching cables like the One Control Daisy Chain Five to power multiple compact pedals. In addition, it is equipped with four 9V/80 mA connections to which, for example, low-power analogue distortion effects can be connected, as well as a 9V/250 mA connection to which high-power effects such as a compact reverb effect can be connected.
